Hey there, mama!
I totally get it—mornings can be wild, especially when you’re trying to get three kids out the door on time. But over the years, I’ve found a rhythm that helps keep our mornings smooth and stress-free, so we can all start the day feeling good. Let me share what works for us in hopes it might bring a little more peace to your mornings too!
1. Get Ahead of the Game: Weekly Prep is Key
I’m all about prepping ahead. Every Sunday evening, I lay out the kids’ clothes for the entire week. Yup, we’re talking outfits, socks, shoes, and even accessories. It saves so much time and eliminates those “I can’t find my other sock!” crises. The kids love knowing what they’ll wear, and I love the extra 10 minutes I save each morning.
2. Lunches the Night Before—Except for the Warm Ones
When it comes to lunches, I prep them the night before, so mornings aren’t a scramble. But if I’m making a warm lunch, I’ll do that in the morning, so it’s fresh and comforting. Having most of the lunch prep done ahead of time keeps things easy, and it gives me a little extra time to enjoy my morning coffee.
3. Affirmations to Set the Tone
Every morning, we say our affirmations together. It’s a simple but powerful way to start the day on a positive note. Whether it’s “Today’s going to be a great day!” or “I am strong, and I can do anything!”—this little ritual helps us all feel centered and ready to face whatever comes our way.
4. No Yelling, Just Love and Calm
One thing I’ve made a rule in our house: no yelling in the morning. I find that setting a calm tone from the moment we wake up makes the whole day better. I start by waking the kids up with hugs and kisses. I don’t make them jump out of bed right away; instead, I wake them up a little early so they can take their time to slowly come to life. They get a few extra minutes to lay there, waking up gently, which makes the transition to getting ready so much smoother.
5. Giving Ourselves Time
We always give ourselves plenty of time in the morning. Rushing is the enemy of peace, so we plan to wake up early enough that there’s no mad dash to get out the door. This way, everyone has time to eat, get dressed, and even sneak in a little morning playtime or cuddle session if we’re ahead of schedule.
6. The Power of a Good Night’s Sleep
Finally, I can’t stress enough how important it is to get everyone to bed at a decent time. Well-rested kids (and moms!) make for much happier mornings. When the kids are well-rested, they wake up in a better mood, and everything just flows more smoothly.
7. Get Yourself Ready First
One of the biggest game-changers for me has been waking up and getting myself ready before I wake up the kids. By taking care of myself first, I’m able to focus fully on getting the kids ready without feeling rushed or frazzled. My stress levels stay down, and I’m in a much better headspace to make sure everyone is on track for the day.
So, that’s how we do it in our house—keeping mornings calm, organized, and full of love. It’s made such a difference in our days, and I hope these tips can help bring a little extra peace to your mornings too.
Sending you all the calm, stress-free vibes for this school year!
With love,
Briana
